2009 Honda CBR 1000 RR ABS & 2009 Honda CBR 600 RR ABS Photos Friday September 5, 2008 2009 Honda CBR600RR ABS

Unofficial photos of Honda's 2009 CBR600RR ABS and CBR1000RR ABS have surfaced via Hell for Leather Magazine, and if their reports are correct both models will be available with ABS. Hell for Leather reports that the 600 features a reworked engine and exhaust system that produces improved torque from 8,000 rpm to 12,000 rpm, a fairing that offers more stability and reduced wind noise, and best-in-class curb weight. The new 600 also wears some wild paint schemes (which we might not see here in the States, since the photos cover the European version.) Check 'em out in our 2009 Honda CBR600RR Photo Gallery.
2009 Honda CBR1000RR ABS

The 2009 CBR1000RR hasn't been changed much since the dramatically reworked 2008 model, and will be available in the ever-popular Repsol repli-racer paint scheme. ABS is differentiated in both models by bronze-colored calipers, which can be seen in our 2009 Honda CBR1000RR Photo Gallery.

If you recall our report on Honda's Combined ABS system, the optional anti-lock brakes should be mass centralized, smooth operating, and calibrated for sport riding. Whether or not the ABS system is desirable for high performance riding remains to be seen, but considering the radical evolution of the technology over the past few years the package looks promising, though curb weight fanatics should note that it comes at a 22 lb. premium.

Hyundai i10 Diesel

QUICK FACTS
Expected- Mid 2009
Estimated Price- Rs. 5.2- 6.4 lakh
Engine- 1.1 litre, 3 cylinder CRDi
Power/ Torque- NA

When the i10 Diesel hits the market it will be the smallest diesel available in India. Of course it will be priced at a considerable premium over the petrol models, but which ever way you look at it, Hyundai seems to have another winner on its hands.

Hyundai i20

QUICK FACTS
Expected- January 2009
Estimated Price- Rs. 5- 6 lakh
Engine- 1197cc petrol, 1936cc turbo- diesel
Power/ Torque- 79bhp/ 11.4kgm, 75bhp/ 22.4kgm

The i20 will be built in India at Hyundai’s Chennai plant. Styled like all of Hyundai’s new “i” cars, this car too has the bold chrome strip above the grill, the striking head lamps and the stacked tail lamps. Hyundai has been rather generous with the equipment level on the i20. Expect top end versions to have climate control, CD/MP3 audio, steering-mounted audio controls, remote-locking and electronically operated outside mirrors. There is a lot of safety kit too, like 6 air bags, active headrests, electronic stability program (ESP), and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD). Hyundai claims the i20 was hot-weather tested in Spain, cold-weather tested in Sweden and high-speed tested in Germany, so it shouldn’t have problems handing India roads. Hyundai is offering 7 engine options for the i20 in Europe, 2 of which could make it to India.

Engine- 3471cc petrol, 2204cc turbo- diesel
Power/ Torque- 271bhp/ 34.28kgm, 148bhp/ 35.6kgm

The Accord is returning to India with more power as Honda has used Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) technology in the car. This works by using 2 or 3 cylinders when you are cruising (to save fuel) and running on all 6 cylinders when you demand power. The 148bhp diesel engine will be Hondas first diesel car in India.

Honda Jazz

Estimated Price- Rs. 5- 6 lakh
Engine- 1198cc, 1497cc petrol
Power/ Torque- 90bhp/ NA, 116bhp/ 14.9kgm

Its been a long time coming but it looks like Honda is finally bring the Jazz in. Powered by the same 1.5 litre i-VTEC engine, from the new City, Honda might also sell the car with a 1.2 litre engine to help it meet the Indian small car norms.
